Thanksgiving Approved Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Every holiday I look forward to a cheesy baked macaroni and cheese. If I'm honest, I look forward to macaroni and cheese on a random day. In my opinion, my Mom made the best macaroni and cheese. It was cheesy and delicious! I wanted to learn how to make it so I asked my Mom to teach me. She didn't have exact measurements so this recipe took me many attempts to perfect.

I like to use a medium and sharp cheese but there is no reason why you can't use the 2 cheeses of your choice. If you want extra cheese, use extra cheese. The beauty of this recipe is you have to keep trying until you get it the way you like!

Ingredients:

2 TBSP Cornstarch
6 TBSP Water
1 TBSP Butter
Can Milk - 1 can
16oz macaroni
8 oz Medium Cheese
8 oz Sharp Cheese
Shredded Cheese (Optional)
Salt & Pepper to taste
​1 egg - beaten

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. In Large Pot, over low heat, combine cornstarch and water. Stir.
3. Boil macaroni.
4. Let cornstarch and water thicken.
5. Add butter.
6. Stir butter until it has melted.
7. Add salt and pepper to taste.
8. Add 1/2 can milk and stir.
9. Add 1/2 can milk and stir.
10. Let simmer.
11. Cut cheese into blocks.
12. Add Cheese to large pot.
13. Stir continuously.
14. Let cheese melt thoroughly.
15. Drain and rinse macaroni.
​16. Place macaroni in bowl with beaten egg and stir.
17. Combine macaroni and cheese mixture. Stir well.
18. Pour combined macaroni and cheese mixture into greased casserole dish.
19. Cover with aluminum foil.
20. Bake for 25-30 min or until edges begin to brown.
21. (Optional) Take macaroni and cheese out lightly spread shredded cheese over entire dish.
22. (Optional) Bake macaroni and cheese UNCOVERED for 5 minutes or until shredded cheese has melted.
23. Let slightly cool and ENJOY!
